§ Mr. Rankinasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware of the disagreement of Scottish teachers with his new proposals for the General Teaching Council; and if he will recast its constitution and functions to ensure that teacher-members will form the majority in the Council.
§ Mr. RossMy proposals provide for a majority of teachers elected by the profession at large. I have asked teachers' associations and other interested parties to meet me on 5th December to discuss them.
§ Mr. Bruce-Gardyneasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give a detailed breakdown of the 29 per cent. increase in the wage and salary bill of the General Teaching Council in its second year of operation.
