HC Deb 14 November 1969 vol 791 cc167-8W
Mr. Hall-Davis

asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the total quantity of chipwood, as distinct from pulpwood for paper-making, imported substitutes for nickel and careful use of existing stocks.

The major Canadian nickel company concerned, which is functioning on a much reduced basis, operates an allocation scheme for British nickel users: we maintain close co-operation with them in the operation of this scheme.

The Government will continue to watch the situation very closely and give any help it can in the national interest.
