§ Miss Jennie LeeThe original gross estimate of the capital cost of the new railway museum and records office at York, including the cost of moving the exhibits and records, was about £570,000. It was estimated that the sale of the sites of the existing museums at Clapham and York would provide over £510,000; in addition, the British Railways Board have agreed to provide up to about £60,000 to build an annexe for the records at York.
Both estimates have risen in the last three years by roughly the same extent, so that the money available for the new building still covers the expected cost.
