§ Mr. George ThomasThe Registrar General estimates that the population of each of the 13 Welsh counties at mid-1921 and mid-1968 was as shown in the following table. Because of boundary changes a precise comparison of the two sets of figures is not possible for every county, but the only significant effect of a boundary change was the gain by Denbigshire of 2.2 per cent. of the population of Caernarvonshire in 1923.
