HC Deb 12 November 1969 vol 791 cc100-1W
79 and 80. Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table showing the number of convictions by court-martial under the Army Act in each of the past six years, itemised to indicate the main offences in each year;

(2) how many courts-martial were convened in each of the past six years in each of the commands of the Army in the United Kingdom and overseas: and what was the total cost to public funds in each of those years.

Mr. Hattersley

The available information follows.

I regret that statistics about the numbers of courts-martial which have been convened by the Army in each of the past six years, and their total cost, are not available.

Dr. David Owen

Cases requiring urgent medical treatment have been transferred to hospitals in Beira, either La Cassa de Saude or the Beira Nursing Home. Less urgent cases have been sent to the Catherine Bibby Hospital in Mombasa, or to South African hospitals.
