§ The Prime MinisterI have been in regular contact with President Nixon on Vietnam. As I said in Guilhall last night, Her Majesty's Government have welcomed the United States determination to persist in the search for an honourable solution to the Vietnam conflict, including President Nixon's plan for the complete withdrawal of the United States ground combat forces from Vietnam. We have stated that we hope that there will be a constructive response from the other side and that progress can now be made in Paris towards a negotiated settlement.
