HC Deb 11 November 1969 vol 791 c74W
Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity on what criteria the terms of reference to the National Board of Prices and Incomes are based.

Mr. Harold Walker

The scope of possible references to the Board is set out in Section 2 of the Prices and Incomes Act, 1966. The terms of particular references are decided in the light of the circumstances in each case.

Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many references to the National Board for Prices and Incomes have been confined to questions of wages and conditions; and how many have included, in addition to wages and conditions, some or all of prices, profits and productivity.

Mr. Harold Walker

Of the 74 references to the N.B.P.I. which have concerned the pay and conditions of particular groups of workers, 22 have contained a specific reference to productivity, 2 a specific reference to prices, and 6 a specific reference to both productivity and prices. The references to prices were normally to the effect of pay changes on prices.
