HC Deb 11 November 1969 vol 791 cc70-1W
Mr. Kershaw

asked the Minister of Technology whether he will give a general direction to the Central Electricity Generating Board not to withdraw concessionary rates for electricity supplied to communal buildings such as village and parish halls, in view of the hardship this withdrawal will cause to voluntary organisations using these buildings, especially in rural areas.

Mr. Alan Williams

The area electricity boards are responsible for giving supplies to buildings of this type and the tariffs charged are a day-to-day matter for them in consultation with the consultative councils and the Electricity Council. If the hon. Member has a particular case in mind he should take it up with the chairman of the board concerned.
