asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what consideration he has given to the integration of the mausoleum and its surrounding grounds in Hamilton into a national park for central Lanarkshire; and if he will make a statement.

I am at present considering a plan for a Regional Park, submitted to me jointly by Lanark County Council, Motherwell and Wishaw Town Council and Hamilton Town Council. This provides for fitting the mausoleum and its grounds into the recreational area, a proposal which I accept in principle.
