§ Mr. DellAt 13th October, 1969, there were 988 persons registered as unemployed in the area covered by the Stornoway Employment Exchange and the percentage rate of unemployment was 18. The numbers registered as unemployed in each of the islands of Barra, South Uist, Benbecula and North Uist were 90, 137, 35 and 89 respectively.
