§ 65. Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs why Her Majesty's Government abstained from voting in favour of a resolution in the Fourth Committee of the United Nations on 21st October which condemned the persistent refusal of South Africa to withdraw from Namibia.
§ Mr. FoleyWe abstained on this resolution, and on Security Council resolutions 264 and 269, on which it was predicated principally because we thought it was unrealistic and could not achieve its aims of furthering the interests of the peoples of South West Africa.
