§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity whether she is aware that during the period of the Government's wages, prices and incomes policy hundreds of company directors have regularly increased their salaries by amounts varying from 10 per cent. to 50 per cent. ; what action she has now taken or intends taking to investigate these large increases ; and whether she will publish the result of her findings.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerThe National Board for Prices and Incomes found in its report on top salaries that pay increases for top executives since September164W 1965 had been less than those given, on average, lower down. In some cases my Department has taken up particular cases with the firms concerned, but it is not our policy to discuss individual cases in public.
