HC Deb 04 November 1969 vol 790 c86W
Mr. Gwynfor Evans

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of his predecessor's practice, in answering Questions, of providing national statistics relating to Wales alone in respect of the number of railway stations closed there, he will now undertake to provide statistics on other railway matters relating to Wales alone, to England alone and to Scotland alone.

Mr. Mulley

No. The reason why my predecessors have provided detailed statistics about rail closures is that under Section 56 of the Transport Act, 1962, the closure of any railway station to all passenger services cannot take place, if objections are made, without the Minister's consent. But, as regards other railway statistics, it is not my intention to depart from the conventions and practice that have been in force for a number of years.
