HC Deb 04 November 1969 vol 790 c72W
Mr. Derek Page

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the cost to the Treasury in the collection of selective employment tax from local authorities ; what is the cost of repayment ; what estimate he has made of the cost in administration of payment and recovery of selective employment tax by the local authorities ; and what proportion these costs represent in relation to the tax.

Mr. William Rodgers

The cost of repaying S.E.T. to local authorities is of the order of £10,000 a year, which is negligible in relation to the amounts involved. No estimates are available of the costs of collection or the costs to local authorities.
