HC Deb 04 November 1969 vol 790 c89W
Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many claims for damage he has received as a result of exercise Sparrowhawk in North-East Scotland in May this year ; what is the estimated value of the claims ; how many claims have been accepted and how many refused ; and what is the value of compensation paid to date.

Mr. Richard

Forty-one claims have been submitted of which two have yet to be detailed. The other claims were valued at about £7,400. Nineteen of these worth some £1,300 have been paid and settlements worth £2,000 have been negotiated in five other cases. Sixteen claims are still being investigated. One claim was not pursued but none has yet been refused.
