§ Mr. J. H. Osbornasked the Minister of Technology if he will give a detailed breakdown of the £14 million expected expenditure per annum on intermediate areas as outlined in the Local Employment Bill; and how this figure relates to the £20 million originally announced by him.
§ Mr. VarleyAlthough expenditure will depend on the response of industrialists and local authorities to the incentives, it is envisaged that about £11 million may eventually be spent on building grants and Government factories and £3 million on derelict land clearance. The remaining £6 million will be spent on infrastructure and training assistance for which it is not necessary to make provision in the Bill.
