(2) with what company his Department entered into a contract for the blasting of Beaucette Quarry on Guernsey ; what was his Department's estimate for the work, excluding pay and allowances ; what was the, actual cost of the work ; and what sum has been received from the company.
§ Mr. HattersleyAn average of 2 officers and 40 men were employed on this project. Their pay and allowances 35W during this period of their training amounted to £27,000.
The work was performed on behalf of Vale Investments Ltd. On the basis of the original estimate the cost would have totalled about £2,300; the final costs were £5,910. The basis of final settlement is still under discussion with the firm.
