HC Deb 03 November 1969 vol 790 cc64-5W
Mr. William Price

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is satisfied with the policy of closing intersections on the A45 between the Thurlaston roundabout and the Birmingham boundary; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Bob Brown

Yes. In the three years 1962–64 there were 348 injury accidents—an average of 116 a year—at gaps in the central reserve. In 1968 there were 62 such accidents out of a total of 190, and up to the end of July this year 37 out of a total of 113. There are now 20 gaps in the central reserve, against 118 in 1964.
