§ 67. Mr. Hornerasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what representations she has received from the Fire Brigades Union on the fatal accident inquiry into the fire at James Watt Street, Glasgow, on the 18th November last; and what reply she has sent.
§ Mr. FernyhoughAfter considering the outcome of the fatal accident inquiry the union submitted supplementary evidence to the Department Committee on the Fire Service making suggestions about the more effective use of the fire brigades in connection with statutory fire provisions. Their memorandum was also submitted to my Department in connection with the proposed new safety, health and welfare legislation which is being prepared to replace the Factories Act and the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act. In reply the Department undertook to consider the union's comments. This consideration will, of course, include any recommendations made by the Departmental Committee and any observations by other interested organisations.
