§ Mr. Brewisasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give the total estimated new commitments in 1969–70 in respect of new construction and major improvements for trunk roads and for principal roads and loans to highway authorities, respectively.
§ Mr. RossProvisional totals for new commitments in 1969–70 are:—
£ million Trunk roads (including motorways) 21.7 Principal roads (grants) 15.0 Loans 0.1 36.8 This is £5.1 million less than new commitments in 1968–69, but commitments on schemes already in hand at the beginning of the year are £11.2 million higher.
