HC Deb 09 May 1969 vol 783 cc138-9W
Mr. Higgins

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give figures for the last six available six-monthly priods for retained profits and corporation tax which correspond to the National Blue Book gross domestic product figures, as against those which correspond to the gross national product figures.

Mr. Taverne

I regret that information in this form is not available. Companies pay dividends, interest and tax out of a common fund, which includes both income arising from their activities included in the gross domestic product and also income from abroad included in the gross national product. It is not, therefore, possible to distinguish the source of retained profits. Similarly, corporation tax is payable both on domestic income and on income from abroad, and separate figures allocating the tax to the two categories are not available.
