HC Deb 09 May 1969 vol 783 c139W
Mr. James Davidson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why the radio shelter hut in the Lochnegar area of Aberdeenshire used and voluntarily manned by local mountain rescue services, has now been assessed for rating purposes.

Mr. Ross

This is a matter for the local assessor, who is required by statute to value all the lands and heritages situated in his area. Local authorities may reduce or remit rates leviable in respect of lands and heritages occupied for nonprofit making charitable or recreational purposes.
