Osborneasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the United Kingdom price for a cold rolling steel mill to be built in Bulgaria was £18¾ million against £14½ million from France, and £2.8 million for a cable factory against £1.8 million from Italy; and if he will investigate why Great Britain has lost recently £20 million orders from Bulgaria and take steps to remedy this situation.
§ Mrs. Gwyneth DunwoodyWhile I regret the loss of these orders, both firms are successful exporters and, I am informed, quoted the lowest prices possible consistent with their assessment of the degree of commercial risk involved and the maintenance of the quality of the equipment specified.
