§ 49. Miss Lestorasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if Her Majesty's Government will discuss with Anguillan representatives proposals for associated status with the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. WhitlockI am aware that this suggestion is favoured by a number of Anguillans. It would not, however, be possible unless Anguilla were separated from the Associated State of St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla, and the constitutional position is that this requires the request and consent of the State.
