§ Mr. Harold LeverStatistics of the cost per annum to the average consumer in Scotland of the hydrocarbon oil duty are not available. But, as an illustrative example, for a mileage of 8,000 a year and a petrol consumption of 30 m.p.g. the extra yield from the increases in the rate of duty since October, 1964 would be about £23 7s. a year.
