HC Deb 02 May 1969 vol 782 c320W
Mr. George Younger

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the cost per annum to the consumer in Scotland of the increased petrol duty imposed since October, 1964.

Mr. Harold Lever

Statistics of the cost per annum to the average consumer in Scotland of the hydrocarbon oil duty are not available. But, as an illustrative example, for a mileage of 8,000 a year and a petrol consumption of 30 m.p.g. the extra yield from the increases in the rate of duty since October, 1964 would be about £23 7s. a year.
