asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity why she will not agree to appointing Mr. Clive Jenkins as a National Industrial Disputes Officer to settle industrial strikes.

My hon. Friend will recall that Mr. Clive Jenkins's intervention occurred in the particular context of the recent B.O.A.C. pilots' dispute, in which he acted as mediator at the suggestion of the trade union side of the National Joint Council for Civil Air Transport, which was accepted by B.O.A.C.
