asked the President of the Board of Trade how many industrial companies whose headquarters are in the United Kingdom have subsidiary companies in the European Economic Community; and if he will list the principal ones.

About 500. Among the principal companies with subsidiaries in the European Economic Community are:—

  • British Leyland Motor Corporation.
  • Bowater Paper Corporation.
  • Coats Patons.
  • Courtaulds.
  • The Dunlop Company.
  • Electrical and Musical Industries.
  • Glaxo Group.
  • General Electric and English Electric Companies.
  • Imperial Chemical Industries.
  • International Computers.
  • The Metal Box Company.
  • The Ocean Steam Ship Company.
  • The Rank Organisation.
