HC Deb 02 May 1969 vol 782 cc286-7W
Mr. Biffen

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what recent settlements have been concluded involving electricians and other exhibition workers; and what are the estimated percentage increases in rates, earnings and productivity arising therefrom.

Mr. Harold Walker

On 7th February, 1969 the National Joint Council for the Exhibition Industry reached agreement for increases of 4d. and 3d. per hour respectively for craftsmen and labourers engaged on standfitting, plus a 10s. per day productivity bonus, and on 28th February, 1969 the employers' side of the National Exhibition Electrical Joint Industrial Council made a similar offer for electricians. Owing to the difficulty of evaluating the increased productivity which would arise, both the agreement for standfitters and the offer to electricians were referred on 18th March, 1969 to the National Board for Prices and Incomes for examination and report, with a direction preventing implementation.
