§ Mr. Ashtonasked the Minister of Technology what increases he estimates there will be in the price of uranium for power stations in the next five years, in view of the scarcity forecast in the survey made by the European Nuclear Energy Agency and the International Atomic Energy Agency, details of which are in his possession.
§ Mr. J. P. W. MallalieuThe Atomic Energy Authority has substantial stocks58W of uranium which, together with imports under existing contracts, are likely to meet requirements well into the 1970s. No significant increase in the price of uranium for power stations is expected over the next five years.
The high level of exploration work which is being undertaken in various parts of the world should result in sufficient uranium being forthcoming at reasonable prices for the United Kingdom and other nuclear power programmes.
