HC Deb 21 March 1969 vol 780 cc176-7W
Mr. Ford

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will consider the former Avro factory site at Yeadon, near Bradford and Leeds, for use as a regional or national exhibition site, or alternatively acquiring it as an advance factory, in view of the fact that the adjacent airport, railheads and future road development will make the site accessible and that the property is to be auctioned on 25th March.

Mr. Gwyneth Dunwoody

The Board of Trade has no plans to use the Avro factory site as either a regional or a national exhibition centre. The factory is not in a development area and the Board of Trade could not, therefore, acquire it under the Local Employment Acts for use as an advance factory.
