asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the total amount of selective employment tax collected from building societies in the last financial year.

Mr. Lomas

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will consider taking steps to exempt building societies from the payment of selective employment tax in the interest of present and future owner occupiers.
