§ Mr. Hugh Jenkinsasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is satisfied that British film exhibitors will be able to comply with the provisions of Section 1 of the Films Act. 1960, following the termination of the short film series known as Look at Life; and if he will introduce regulations under the Cinematograph Films Act, 1957, to provide for payments by the British Film Fund Agency in order to enable short 148W British documentary films to continue to be made and exhibited.
§ Mrs. Gwyneth DunwoodyI do not at present foresee any difficulties for British film exhibitors in complying with the requirements of the Films Act, 1960, regarding the prescribed percentage of British quota films, including short films. This percentage is reviewed annually by the Board of Trade with the advice of the Cinematograph Films Council, and we shall continue to watch the position closely.
The Cinematograph Films (Distribution of Levy) Regulations, 1963, as amended, already provide that eligible British short films should receive payments from the British Film Fund at an enhanced rate.
