§ Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he is satisfied with 126W progress being made in the amalgamation of various water undertakings in Monmouthshire; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. George ThomasYes. My hon. Friend will have received copies of letters of 20th January and 24th February, 1969, announcing my decision to authorise the setting up of a joint water board to serve the County of Monmouth. The letter of 24th February indicated the modifications which I propose to make to the draft Order and explained the statutory procedure to be followed before the Order can be made. If there are no further objections, the new board is expected to assume responsibility for water supplies in the area as from 1st October, 1969.
