§ 45. Mr. Edwin Wainwrightasked the Minister of Power whether, owing to the rate of unemployment in the Dearne Valley constituency being more than twice the national average, he will ask the National Coal Board to defer the closing down of the Wombwell Main Colliery until suitable alternative employment is provided for the men who will be declared redundant.
§ Mr. MasonI regret the need to close Wombwell Main Colliery, but the National Coal Board expect to offer other work to all the men under 60 years of age. There seems, therefore, to be no case for deferring the closure of this colliery.
