§ Mr. Harold LeverThe cost of interest, including management and expenses, on the National Debt in the current financial year is estimated to be about £1,350 million. This includes the effect of the increase in Bank Rate to 8 per cent. from 27th February. No estimate is yet available of how much of this is payable internally and externally respectively.
