§ Mr. Rankinasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has studied the Report of the Scottish Council (Development and Industry) published on 26th February regarding the effect on Scotland's economy over the next 20 years of the increasing tendency to centralise the top functions of industry and commerce in London; and if he will make a statement 230W on these and other recommendations made by the Council.
§ Mr. RossI have seen reports in the Press of the statement to which my hon. Friend refers. I understand that the Scottish Council published the statement to stimulate thought on the subject and that they themselves intend to give further consideration to the matters with which it deals.
