HC Deb 10 March 1969 vol 779 cc208-9W
Mr. Leslie Huckfield

asked the Minister of Transport (1) what consultations his Department have had with the European Ministers of Transport about international agreement on legislation on the use of drugs and driving, following recent evidence sent to him by the Automobile Association;

(2) what consultations his Department have had with the Federal Department of Transportation in the United States of America about international agreement on legislation on the use of drugs and driving, following recent evidence furnished by the Automobile Association.

Mr. Marsh

None. We have been in touch with the Federal Department of Transportation on the general problem of drugs and driving, but the information which they have so far been able to provide is limited and not necessarily relevant to conditions in this country. International collaboration on this problem is likely to centre on further research proposed by Organisation for Economic Co-operation Development, in which the United Kingdom will be participating through the British Medical Association.
