§ The Attorney-GeneralThe abolition of imprisonment for debt was one of a large number of recommendations made by the Committee on the Enforcement of Judgment Debts in its report published on 13th February, 1969. It is linked with the Committee's proposals for the extension and improvement of the attachment of earnings procedure. These recommendations are being closely studied but it will be some time before I can make any announcement of the Government's intentions with regard to them.
