§ Mr. Leadbitterasked the Minister of Technology what expenditure was incurred by his Department on research and development projects in the Northern Region for the years 1967 and 1968; what percentage this expenditure is of the national expenditure; and what steps he is taking to increase this work in the Region.
§ Dr. Bray£1.6 million in 1966–67 and £1.8 million in 1967–68 which are respectively 0.6 per cent. and 0.7 per cent. of the Department's total expenditure in the United Kingdom on research and development. My right hon. Friend is seeking to encourage the expansion of R. & D. activities in the region, and in this way to support policies for attracting there technologically advanced firms with their R. & D. activities.
