87. Mr. Hilton

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many full-time personnel are engaged in assisting Professor Reddaway in his investigation into the Selective Employment Tax.

88. Mrs. Joyce Butler

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is satisfied that the machinery of the Reddaway inquiry into Selective Employment Tax is adequate to enable a report to be made at an early date; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Taverne

The detailed arrangements for the inquiry are a matter for Professor Reddaway. I am satisfied that it is making good progress.

89. Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will take appropriate steps to expedite the Report of Professor Reddaway's inquiry into Selective Employment Tax, with a view to making the report available well before the end of the year.

Mr. Taverne

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to my hon. Friend the Member for Ashton-under-Lyne (Mr. Sheldon) on 11th February.—[Vol. 777, c. 273.]
