asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the amount of increase per gallon on the duty on petrol and diesel fuels required to compensate for the loss to the Exchequer of reducing the motor vehicle licence fee to £10, or to £5, per annum.

At least 1s. 0d. and 1s. 4d. per gallon respectively.
