HC Deb 04 March 1969 vol 779 cc86-7W
Mr. Howie

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government (1) what are the estimated amounts of specific revenue grants, housing subsidies, rate rebates and capital grants for the county borough of Luton in 1968–69 and 1969–70;

(2) what is the revised estimate for rate support grant to the county borough of Luton for 1968–69; and what is the first estimate for 1969–70.

Mr. Skeffington

The latest estimates of the rate support grants for the County Borough of Luton are as follows:

1968–69 1969–70
£ £
Needs element 3,547,332 3,887,449
Domestic element 187,525 291,330
Total 3,734,857 4,178,779

The housing subsidies payable for 1968–69 are estimated at £271,000 but no estimate for 1969–70 can yet be made. For other grants, which depend upon the expenditure of the local authority, no reliable estimate may be made until after the end of the financial year concerned.
