HC Deb 04 March 1969 vol 779 cc97-8W
Mr. Tinn

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what budgetary and development aid will be made available to Lesotho by the British Government in the financial year 1969–70.

Mr. Prentice

Following financial talks in London in February, the British Government have agreed, subject to the approval of Parliament, to make available to the Government of Lesotho in the financial year 1969–70 a budgetary grant of up to £2.8 million, with the possibility of an increase to £2.9 million in the light of the outturn for 1968–69, and a development grant of £1.221 million. This aid is being provided within the framework of the British Government's offer announced in October, 1966, of budgetary and development aid for the three year period beginning 1st April, 1967.
