HC Deb 04 March 1969 vol 779 cc66-7W
61. Mr. Woof

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will reconsider his decision not to exempt four Surgitool aortic prosthetic heart valves from the operation of the Customs (Import Deposit) Act, 1968, in view of the fact that they were sent as a free gift lot research evaluation, insured for $1,000. the details of which have been given to him by the hon. Member for Blaydon.

Mr. Harold Lever

As I have explained to my hon. Friend, articles imported for non-commercial scientific research can be relieved of the import deposit, but this relief has not been applied for in the case he mentions.
