HC Deb 04 March 1969 vol 779 cc87-8W
100. Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many bankruptcies took place in Scotland in 1968; if he

Traders or shopkeepers 40 68 62 58 50 63
Manufacturers 4 1 5 7
Farmers 7 10 9 11 4 13
Professional men 1
Persons not gainfully occupied 2 4 1 5 2 7
Others 57 60 46 74 63 89

to bring agrément certificates within the scope of the deemed to satisfy clauses of the Building Regulations.

Mr. MacColl

My right hon. Friend has no proposals to do so.

I believe however that Agrément certificated products are already widely accepted by local authorities under the building regulations, and the Ministry notifies local authorities of the issue of new certificates. There would be difficulties in giving such products formal deemed-to-satisfy status. The certificates for instance refer to named, and sometimes proprietary products, and have only a short period of validity.
