Mr. Joplingasked the Minister of Overseas Development what steps he is taking to help developing countries to find alternative crops and uses for their existing products such as ground nuts, soya beans, and other oil seeds in view of the likely replacement of traditional sources of protein for animal feeding-stuffs by synthetic protein and non-protein nitrogens.
§ Mr. OramEven in the developed countries synthetic protein and non-protein nitrogens are only at an experimental stage. Their use for animal feeding-stuffs in developing countries is unlikely within the foreseeable future.
