§ Mr. MacCollDuring the four years up to the end of 1968 the council gave a total of £37,703 in grants to private owners, towards which the Government contributed an amount representing three-quarters of the annual loan charges on this sum over a period of twenty years. During the same period, improvements32W to the council's own houses attracted Government contributions of £489 per annum for 20 years on a similar basis.
