§ Mr. William Edwardsasked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he will convene a conference of the Welsh Tourist Board and Welsh Planning Committees to ensure that inland holiday areas in Wales have sufficient caravan sites available to cater for the demand for sites, particularly during the peak holiday periods.
§ Mr. George ThomasThe allocation of sufficient land for caravan camping in holiday areas in Wales is a matter for detailed planning by the local planning authorities, in consultation as necessary with the Countryside Commission and the Wales Tourist Board, and I doubt if it could be settled at a conference of the kind my hon. Friend proposes. The special problem of transit sites for touring caravans is being studied by a unit set up by the Countryside Commission.
