§ Mr. Maxwell-Hyslopasked the Secretary of State for Social Services why pocket money for patients in general hospitals is paid directly by the Department of Social Security; and why pocket money for patients in psychiatric hospitals is paid by hospital management committees out of the money made available to them for all purposes by the regional hospital boards with no provision for recovering moneys so disbursed.
§ Mr. CrossmanThis has been the practice since the early days of the National Health Service. I am, however, reviewing the arrangements.
