§ Mr. Michael Heseltineasked the Minister of Transport (1) if he will publish the latest revision of the list originally distributed to certain contractors in October 1968 of the 37 road construction schemes due to start in 1969;
(2) if he will publish the text of the letter and the accompanying list sent to certain contractors in October 1968 outlining 37 road construction schemes due to start in 1969.
§ Mr. MarshNo. As I explained to the hon. Member on 9th June in reply to his supplementary question, these lists were issued to contractors to help them with their forward planning. An additional purpose was to enable the Ministry to get some idea of what schemes individual contractors might be interested in. The lists were, therefore, working documents and, as was explained to the contractors, they gave only tentative starting dates and were in no way a statement of the Ministry's firm programme. To publish these lists would, therefore, not be helpful and would be likely to give rise to further misunderstanding.—[Vol. 784, col. 947.]
